Todd "The True Guru" Farino has been part of the
fantasy sports industry going on nine years and is the owner of
Fantasy Baseball Search,
Fantasy Baseball Ad,
Fantasy Football Search, and
Fantasy Football Ad.
Two years ago I stood up against the mainstream
industry that thought closers have little value other then free agents
pickups. Since those debates and arguments, closers are at an
all-time high in drafts, on rosters, and involvement in fantasy
strategies. During the past two years I've felt the fantasy
baseball industry world was a tuxedo and I was a pair of brown shoes.
Not anymore.
I've spent the past two years studying closers, their
values, and the overall impact they can have on fantasy baseball.
I watch as many ninth innings as possible on a daily basis to get the
first hand knowledge. Baseball is a voyeur sport, not
statistical or box score-based. You can't calculate the next
closer or use your gut to fine the save leader for the next season. I study
what makes a closer who he is and accurately find the next great ones. In 2009 I
launched this site as the first fantasy baseball web site
dedicated to the reporting and analysis of closers.
In my spare time, I pitch in an adult baseball league.
I believe that in order to understand pitchers, you need to know what
it's like to be one pitching constantly, the pressure, and the overall
impact on an athlete. It's certainly not the majors, but its fun
and gives me a understanding for the mechanics of pitching. I'm
also a big Boston Red Sox fan, GO RED SOX! If you have any questions, please email me at
